John Barry plays in the top league of the most famous soundtrack composers along with Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner and Henry Mancini. It is said Barry already was involved in the first 007 soundtrack "Dr. No" although Monti Norman was the official composer and is also credited on the cover of the "Dr. No" releases. According to some press articles John Barry even claims to have done the main work on the famous James Bond Theme (always credited as Monty Norman's James Bond Theme). Barry's work for 007 includes 11 soundtracks (12 including "Dr. No"). He is also well known for his other soundtrack compositions which include "Out Of Africa"  and "Dances With Wolves". Until now Barry received  5 Oscars (Academy Awards) as listed in the table below. In 1987 John Barry had a small role in the "The Living Daylights" playing a conductor.
